The Misplaced If

We serve an awesome God! But, we can easily hurt our relationship with God and Jesus. For example, in prayer we might ask God to find us a higher paying job if we are more helpful towards the needy and poor. The mistake we make is that we try to bargain with God. We have a misplaced if. “ If you can believe all things are possible to him who believes,” (Mark 9:23).

If we place our belief and trust in Jesus we place the “if” correctly. It takes faith and courage to trust God for all our needs, but this is what God wants us to do. “Lord I believe help my unbelief,” ( Mark 9:24). If we doubt that God won’t do what the Word says He will do, we lack the faith needed. To build faith we must hear the Word, say the Word, and believe in the Word. “If God says it, I believe it, and that settles it.”

We are human and fallible, and should not rely on ourselves and others to get it right. “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible,” (Mathew 19:29). There’s nothing we can’t do when we put our faith, trust, and belief in Jesus Christ. Without Jesus we will fail, but with Jesus anything is possible. My hope and prayer is that we rely more on Jesus our greatest hope, love and blessing to all, Carby.
