The Power of the WORD

Ever since we learned our first words as babies, we have been using words for our primary method of communication. There is tremendous power in words. We have misused words at times, and quickly found out that it’s not easy too take them back once spoken. I believe most of us understand that words have significant power to persuade, inspire, motivate, hurt, praise, belittle, etc. the point is that how we choose too use our words will dictate what meaning you will bring to your life.

This leads me to the power of the words we find throughout the Bible. God created the world into existence using words. Without the Word we would not exist at all. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1). When Jesus was tempted in the desert by the devil his response was “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.’ (Luke 4:4).

I believe the takeaway for us is to recognize that when we repeat to ourselves and others words of scripture we are empowering ourselves and others like nothing else in this world. What I mean to say is that scripture words can be used for healing ourselves and others from disease, depression, anxiety, fear, trust issues, confidence, and a host of other ailments. There are words in the Bible we can use for our meditation, chants, a chosen mantra, a prayer, or for memorization.

God through his Word has promised us that if we believe in his son Jesus, and believe that the Word is true, we can be assured that what we ask for in the name of Jesus, that God will honor and answer us. God does not lie, and His promises are more than just words. The Word of God is true, powerful, and needs to be used by us. When we speak His Word with confidence, and certainty, we can rest assured that in God’s timing, not our will, but God’s will be done. Our prayers will not go unanswered, but we must be patient, because God’s timing is not our timing.

When an attitude is God-centered our life will change dramatically! When we find satisfaction in the eternal promises of God we are filled with peace and joy, patience and thanksgiving. Worry and fear are gone! Bitterness and anger are replaced with forgiveness and love. We are confident that He will provide for each of us now and for eternity according to His promises.

We need to use the Word of God in affirmations, repeated throughout the day. When we use God’s Word outwardly, or silently our subconscious mind absorbs the Word and it becomes part of us with repeated use. This is significant because the Word changes us from the inside out. We get closer to the Mind and Heart of Christ.

Starting today please look at the Word of God with a fresh set of eyes. If you begin to act on His Word with a vigorous faith and a strong belief in His Word, you can’t help but start to grow spiritually with a bright light shinning within you, illuminating a wonderful path forward. With blessings and prayers, love and Godspeed. fxc
