Prayer is one of the greatest weapons we have available to make contact and connect with our Higher Power. For Christians it is Jesus Christ and God the Father. Prayer is such a powerful way to have a heartfelt conversation with our Lord. He is always present and feels our pain, and knows when we are hurting. When we pour out our hearts to God it has a powerful cleansing effect, and we feel God’s peace and love.
The thing about prayer is that we can all benefit from it. Those whom we prayed for, and those who pray. I think prayers are never in short supply especially now with everything that’s been happening in America and in the world.
I realize not everyone believes in a Higher Power but whatever your beliefs or persuasion you are loved and cared for. We all have similar needs and I believe we have much more in common than differences.
There’s a beautiful prayer written between 1182-1226, by St. Francis of Assisi.
Lord make me an instrument of Your Peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where their is despair, hope; Where their is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as too love; For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal light.
St. Francis lived a joyous life and loved nature, calling all living beings his brothers and sisters. I love this prayer by St. Francis it’s profound, selfless, giving, forgiving, faithful, eternal, loving, hopeful, and joyful.
Being a saint might not necessarily be our goal, but to become the best version of ourselves might be. I believe if we adopt some of the virtues in St. Francis’ Prayer we will undoubtedly become more loving and achieve a more peaceful disposition. I pray and hope that you take to heart the message of this beautiful prayer. With love and a pray full heart. Carbie out.
Carbie, loved the St Francis prayer. Going to get a mri this morning.
