An Abundance of Joy

Joy and good health seem to be synonymous. Why is that? The more we can be in a joyful state the less time their is for moping around. Last time we looked at the positive benefits joy brings to our psychological, spiritual, and mental health. Today I want to take the next step. We need to look at what else can contribute to our good health.

If we work on becoming more selfless it begins to open up more health benefits and here’s why. If we want more joy we must first become more submissive. When we surrender and submit to our Higher Power we are infused with an abundance of joy. When we rid ourselves of selfish behaviors we are free to give more of ourselves to others.

If we continually focus on ourselves how can we attend to the needs or spirit of another? The simple truth is that we can’t, and our health will suffer as a result. To be free and truly liberated from self we have to believe, hope, and trust that our Higher Power will give us everything we need to experience true and unrelenting joy.

Scripture puts it this way “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Philippians 2:3. When we surrender our will to our Higher Power you’ll be amazed at how humble you will become. This humility allows for the freedom we need to live our lives in a more liberated manner.

When we do this our health improves immensely. We become concerned about the health of others, and as a consequence our own health improves. When we help others we aren’t acting in a selfish manner. In fact just the opposite, which releases feel good hormones, endorphins and the like that brings health to our bodies.

As you can see once we take the focus off ourselves and give it to others it becomes a win-win situation. When we help others we are helping ourselves also. This brings us renewed health from the abundance of joy your Creator has bestowed upon you for being His helpful servant. This will restore your health to unimaginable levels if you can believe. God says “If you can believe all things are possible to him who believes.” Mark 9:23. We need only to believe that our health will improve and I believe it will. Godspeed, Carbie out.
