As I begin to delve deeper into conforming my actions to the will of God the more I realize this is not the easiest thing to achieve. But, what I know is that once I start something I will finish it. That’s just something that somehow, someway, was instilled in me as a child. It’s truly amazing after all these years how somethings just seem to stick. Anyway what I do know is that it is a difficult task, but one that we need to finish.
Lately, I started to read “The Practice of the Presence of God.” By Brother Lawrence. Basically I reread the spiritual maxims in the back of the book. It seems that experiencing the presence of God and learning His will go hand-in-hand. It states that this is also a difficult process but those who endure will achieve the closest thing to being in heaven with God Almighty. I guess you can say that you will have achieved heaven on earth. CD Like I said this process requires a lot of effort and time. But personally I think the satisfaction in achieving this very high spiritual level will more than be worth it. The peace and joy you will feel when you experience God’s presence cannot be overstated.
So, what I hope to achieve over the next five years or so is a greater sense of God’s presence. What helps me feel God’s presence just a little is when I write? I feel that God is always encouraging me to write, and because I enjoy writing it almost feels like I sometimes receive input from God to help me along. Even if I’m only imagining much of this, it doesn’t explain the joy and love I feel when I’m writing. Anyway, I have much to think about and reflect on. I’m learning a ton about the spiritual journey and how important that aspect of our lives truly is, especially if we want to live out our lives here on earth like Jesus has intended us to do. Lots to learn, lots to love, blessings to you all. carbie
