Fear is a natural human emotion. Even a small infant has a natural inborn fear of falling. We may not be able to eliminate fear, but we certainly can manage it. Isaiah 4:10 says “Fear not, for I am with you……” and 2 Timothy 1:7 tell us “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” One of the best ways to deal with paralyzing fear is to change our thoughts..
When we change our thinking our thoughts will change. Philippians 4:8 teaches us a better way to think. “Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.”
Jesus modeled these virtues while on earth. It honors God when we practice and apply these 4:8 virtues. Jesus at Gethsemane shows us how He overcame the fear and anxiety of dying on the cross. He prayed to the Father “ Abba Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me yet not what I will , but what you will,” (Mark 14:16). Like Jesus, praying to God is the best way to minimize and even eliminate fear. My hope and prayer is that we fear less and love more; love and blessing, Carby.
