Keep on Smiling

One of the simplest things we can do to help others and ourselves feel better is a simple smile. Its simplicity can’t be overstated. It may lead to laughter that we know is the best medicine. Norman Cousins in his book “Anatomy of an Illness” testifies to how laughter heals. The Bible endorses laughter and joy. Proverbs 17:22 is true, “a merry heart does a spirit good, soul and body good like medicine.”

Life is difficult and we will have problems and setbacks, but Jesus is our Savior, and the more we call on Him the faster we can smile and laugh again. Solving a problem brings joy to our hearts, a smile to our faces, and health to our bodies. When we laugh we are in good company. “But the one who rules in heaven laughs; my Lord makes fun of them,” (Psalm 2:4). We need to love more and laughing more is good medicine that keeps. us healthy.

It begins with a smile. When we smile endorphins are released giving us a sense of well-being, a warm heart, and a loving presence. A smile enhances our relationships, and may promote a conversation about Jesus. God loves to smile down on us when we help others, especially those who are lost. “May the Lord smile down on you and show you His kindness,” (Numbers 6:25). The Lord loves to smile, therefore, “Keep on Smiling,” love and blessings, Carby.
