Everyone is torn between doing what is right, but then doing the wrong thing. Christians are not immune to this inner fight. Their new nature in Christ may still be swayed by their old nature. Christ fills us with grace that helps us fight evil. He protects us: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes,” (Ephesians 6:11). It’s when we fail to call on God that we fall privy to worldly temptations.
We have an almighty helper in Jesus. He assures us that the “ in all things we are more than conquers through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). The Lord will help us fight off any internal foes that want to harm us. Charles Spurgeon (1834-92) a British preacher wrote the following inspirational words: “From strength to strength go on; wrestle, and fight, and pray, tread all the powers of darkness down, and win the well-fought day.”
The internal battle against what is evil and what is good is a battle we will fight our entire life. To fight this battle we need the strength and courage our Heavenly Father has given us through His Son Jesus Christ. We are fighting a spiritual battle that requires our complete surrender to Christ. It’s in our weakness that our Lord’s power is released. “ My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness,” (2 Corinthians 12:9). My hope and prayer is that we draw in Jesus’ strength each time we confront evil; love and blessings, Carby.
