The Power of Prayer

When we pray wonderful things happen. God enters our heart and changes it; our prayers are answered, and our stress and anxiety disappears. We are comforted by God’s presence, and our faith grows as we connect with the heart of Jesus. “I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live,” (Psalm 116:1-2).

Jesus reaches out to us constantly throughout the day, but we need moments of silence to listen for his voice or other ways he uses to communicate. It is in silence and stillness that we open the door to communicate with God. “For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is in him,” (Psalm 62:5). It is through our contact with God that we are inspired to live fully, and prayer is the best way to connect with the Creator of the Universe.

Prayer increases our love of God. Our hearts become united with the love God has for us. This love grows and brings us closer to the peace and righteousness of God. We sin less, and our love for Jesus grows. Our prayers bring honor and glory to God. He fills us with his mercy and grace. “He saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy,” ( Titus 3:5). My hope and prayer is that we share God’s love with each other; Godspeed, Carby.
