Most people don’t have the luxury to go to a retreat for relaxation, peace, and solitude. There is an excellent alternative available. It’s called meditative prayer. “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night….” (Joshua 8:1). Meditating on God’s unfailing love (Psalm 48:9), and God’s promises; (Psalm 119:148), helps us stay focused on the Creator of the Universe.
We honor and glorify God when we are silent in meditative prayer for 15-20 minutes. “Be still and know that I am God,” (Psalm 46:10). In silence and stillness we listen for God’s subtle way of communicating with us. In this meditative state we feel peaceful; our mind and thoughts remain calm, and a blissful state becomes our reality.
During meditation we sense God’s presence; His peace and love. Our mental, spiritual, and physical well-being grows. “You show me the path of life, in your presence there is fullness of joy;” (Psalm 16:11, NRS). God’s presence brings inexpressible joy. Biblical meditation is perhaps our greatest weapon in maintaining calm and peace throughout the day. My hope and prayer is that meditation brings us closer to God; love and blessings, Carby.
