Our Greatest Role

Many of us throughout our lives have multiple roles: student, friend, co-worker, spouse, parent, grandparent, etc..; important roles, but what is our most important role? Because we are fallen creatures “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work,” (1:John 3:8). God wants us to be holy. Our greatest role is to be holy.

“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord,” (Hebrews 12:14). John 3:16 promises eternal life for all who believe in Jesus Christ. As believers we need to become holy in an unholy world. Not an easy command, but one that needs to be obeyed so that Jesus’ sacrifice will not be in vain.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” (1John 1:9). When we confess our sins we are cleansed and made holy. Sin leads to unholiness. God wants us holy. We are by nature sinners, this creates a challenge. It is the love of Jesus that leads to holiness. Focusing on Jesus keeps us holy and away from sin. My hope and prayer is that we sin less and seek to be holy; love and blessings, Carby.
