Treasures in Heaven

It seems that our society today and in many cultures throughout the world that the emphasis on material things are misguided. We are a very competitive society and too many individuals are gathering material things that they can’t take with them to heaven. Jesus tells us, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…..For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also, (Matt. 6:20-21).

Our heart will be either with material things or with heavenly treasures. What are some heavenly treasures? For example: when we pray and meditate, read the Bible, listen to or speak the Word of God, or listening to spiritual music, we grow and increase the Kingdom of God. God is watching us. Are we getting closer to God or further away. The more we pursue worldly things the further we get from God. “God is love, whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him,” (1John 4:16).

We are commanded to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind. Secondly we are commanded to love our neighbor as ourself. These are God’s two greatest commandments. We are asked to love God, and to love one another. When we obey these two commandments, we will love everyone around us. When we do this we are building Treasures in Heaven. I pray that we all begin to love more in our lives. Love and blessings to all, Carby.
