A Burning Heart For Jesus

Now that our intimate relationship with Jesus is flourishing we realize something else is missing. The burning desire in our heart for Jesus needs to be expressed. “O God you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1). David’s exuberant passion for God is perfectly expressed in this psalm.

We have many things going on in our lives that keep us from listening to the Holy Spirit who will guide us towards a burning heart that desires Christ above all else. How can we slow down our lives enough to focus deeply on the will of God? It’s God’s will that we read, speak, and listen to the word of God; we will then possess that burning heart that seeks out God.

As we read scripture the Holy Spirit pours into our heart flames of passion for Jesus Christ. The heat that embroils us is the passion we are feeling for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us “abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4). When we abide in Christ we remain or stay in Christ. My hope and prayer for all of us is that we abide in Christ as our relationship in Christ grows. My love and blessings to all, God bless, Carby.
