Living in the Presence of God

The Bible tells us that God is everywhere (omnipresence). Since God is everywhere, is it possible to be in His presence on earth? In his book “The Practice of the Presence of God,” Brother Lawrence a lay brother in the Carmelite Monastery in Paris (1614-1691) realized that the time spent in communion with the Lord should be the same no matter what the task. He engaged in conversations with God throughout the day. Brother Lawrence was in constant prayer. This is how he remained in God’s Presence.

The word of God tell us, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;” (Psalm 23:4). Also, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” ( Exodus 33:14). From the very beginning God’s presence has been with us. I need to recognize that God is present, pray often, and commune with God throughout the day. When I focus on God’s presence I am reminded to pray and commune often throughout the day. If I do this, I’ll increase His presence in my life.

My hope and prayer is that we begin to commune more often with God during the day. If your work is demanding just pause for a second or two in between tasks and tell God how much you love Him. He’ll understand, and you can spend quality time with Him later. Love and blessings, Carbie.
