Gratitude and Forgiveness

When we are grateful it uplifts our spirit because the focus is on what we have, not what we lack. Focusing on the things that we have makes us appreciative and thankful. Jesus gave thanks to the Father before performing many of His miracles.

He thanked the Father when he raised Lazarus, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me,” (John 11:41). He gave thanks to the Father for his many blessings. Jesus is the perfect example, and we should follow in His footsteps. Like Jesus we too have our cross to bear. It’s through suffering that we grow and become stronger.

Jesus even before His crucifixion said: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34). His death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice, and it’s through the cross that our sins are forgiven and our healing takes place: “…..and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

As we continue to grow in Christ it’s imperative that we follow His lead. We must learn to forgive others the way Christ forgave us. We love God because he first loved us. Followers of Christ, must humble themselves, and ask Christ for spiritual strength too forgive those who have caused us harm.

My hope and prayer is that we continue to grow in spiritual strength, and have the courage to accept the things we cannot change, change what we can, and the wisdom too know the difference. Love and blessings, Carbie.
