Have you ever wondered how close we can get to the heart and mind of Christ? We know that Jesus is present everywhere, and scripture tells us the Holy Spirit is with us. “Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” ( 1Corinthians 3:16)
If the Holy Spirit is within us and Jesus’ presence is all around us, it is reasonable too believe that if we ask the Holy Spirit to show us how to engage the heart and mind of Christ that he could do so. I believe that when we trust God completely, He will answer our prayers.
It won’t be easy due to the many competing interests and activities throughout the day; family, work, school, kids shopping, and more. The quiet time needed to spend with God in meditation and prayer often takes a back seat to all the pressing activities we have.
I believe to follow Christ closely we need to walk in his footsteps. We do this by connecting with the heart of Christ. It will be gradual at first, but as our hunger for Christ grows deeper our relationship will evolve beyond belief.
But, I also know how important it is to establish this deep connection with Christ. It truly is a matter of life and death. Pauses throughout the day focusing on Jesus for 60 seconds, visualize Jesus, the cross, His resurrection, His birth, helps. Each time we do this, we are conditioning our minds to stay focused on the heart and mind of Christ.
My hope and prayer is that we all enter into the peace and love that awaits us as we enter into the heart and mind of Christ, love and blessings, Carbie.
