It’s not easy living in today’s world. Our culture emphasizes being proud of your accomplishments, having a high level of self-esteem, and a strong self-image. These are in themselves not bad traits, in fact, they are highly encouraged by our society. As a former teacher I taught and encouraged my students to develop these characteristics for future success.
The problem that exists however, is that these traits are obstacles to humility. God needs us to be humble to enter into a dynamic prayer life. It takes humility to get down on your knees and humble your mind and heart. When we pray in this manner with a tender and humble heart God welcomes your prayers with open arms.
As our prayer life grows in humility and we humble ourselves at the foot of the cross we might begin to touch Christ in a manner that will begin to touch the heart of Christ. The word of God tells us “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2)
We are also to be gentile and patient with one another and loving towards all. For all these reasons and more God wants and needs us to be humble. Humility is the key to a more dynamic prayer life. It will also help us to become a more patient and loving person. By becoming more humble we will begin to have a larger impact in a positive way on all those around us.
My prayer and hope is that God gives us the humility and peace that we seek. May the love and power of God continue too flow abundantly in your life. Love and blessings too all, Godspeed, Carbie.
