The other day I ran across Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s book where he talks about positive thoughts and how they feed our mind just like we need nourishing food to give us a healthy body. However, on a spiritual level feeding the mind quality thoughts is more important than even feeding our bodies the best nutritional food available.
Our bodies are perishable and will not make the eternal journey when our time here on earth expires. However, our souls and spirit are eternal and will go with us on our eternal journey. What we feed our minds impacts our soul and spirit, and for that matter our bodices as well. It’s no denying that we are spiritual beings more than anything else.
Quality thoughts, good thoughts are energizing and empowering. When I think of quality positive thoughts I think of the words in the Bible. I think of the psalms, proverbs, the gospels, and all the other great books in scripture. The ultimate nourishment for our minds is the word of God. We become and act as a result of what we input into our minds. Our thoughts are the result of what we saturate our minds with. Our actions become the result of what we are thinking. Our thoughts have energy and move us in that direction.
Jesus talks about being the bread of life. Jesus said to them “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35). Jesus was talking about spiritual food. If we stay connected with the word of Jesus He will supply all the food (spiritual food we need). When we come to Jesus and believe in Him, He will feed our minds with the nourishment our minds need through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our bodies are the temple of God and must be nourished and cared for, but our mind and our heart belong to God as well, and must be equally nourished and fed quality thoughts. “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.” (Proverbs 23:7). When our heart and mind are synchronized with the heart and mind of Christ we are spiritually empowered, and in tune with the will of God the Father. In this state we can accomplish things beyond belief because the hand of God is with us.
God wants us to have a relationship with His Son that is deep, that we depend completely on Him to provide for all our needs. As we rely more on Jesus, to meet our every need our love for Him will blossom like nothing we’ve ever experienced before, because he first loved us, and died on the cross for us. May God bless you, and may your love for Jesus continue to grow deeper and deeper each day. Godspeed, love Carbie.
