The Antidote to Stress is Love

With the Holiday Season nearing closer and closer the demands and stresses during this time of year always seem to create extra tension, anxiety, and some frustration. What we should be thinking about is that the Christmas Season is the perfect time for giving. When our focus shifts to a giving spirit we become more loving, with more love in our life we lesson the stress in our lives. One of the best antidotes for stress is love.

My focus today is to put more love and giving generously during Christmas this year. We’ve all been through so much this year, that we need to celebrate and overcome all the hardships we endured by celebrating life; and nothing says this better than pouring out our love to one another, and to give a helping hand wherever it may be needed.

Recently I came across a beautiful quote by Tony Robbins “Love is the oxygen to the soul” Think about that for a moment. We know the importance of oxygen for our bodies to survive, but have you ever thought how important love is to our soul? I love this quote because it’s deep and profound. Love feeds and nourishes our soul. Love is soul food.

In chapter 6 of my book I wrote about Mother Teresa’s philosophy for loving. The amazing thing is that she sums up the entire philosophy in 18 words. “Without prayer no faith, without faith no love, without love no service, without service no joy, no service.” Her philosophy for living is so simple but profound.

Prayer leads to a stronger faith, the stronger your faith the more you love. If you are full of love, you want to give your love in service. Lastly, when you willingly serve others your are giving through grace more joy and peace in your life. We all want more joy and peace during stressful times, and we know that more love in our lives is the antidote to stress.

I believe most of us will acknowledge that the greatest form of love is to give your life for county, your family, loved ones, and of course the greatest love of all was Christ sacrificing his life for us on the cross. In John 15:17 we are commanded to love each other. Love is the source of all that is good. God is the source of love. Therefore if we love one another, and God is love, we love God, and God loves us.

I understand this might be a little heavy language for non religious types and non Christians, and for that I humbly ask for your indulgence, but please don’t reject the main theme I want to convey today. That love helps us to conquer many of the wrongs, and the bad things happening today. All of us simply need to love more, and we will right this ship that seems to be sinking like the Titanic more and more each day in the greatest country the world has ever known; the United States of America!!

My hope today is that you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. may you be blessed beyond all expectations, and may you continue to grow in all aspects of your life. God bless you and Godspeed, Carbie out.
