Praying for a Miracle

Earlier I wrote about the powerful benefits of prayer; a way to connect with our Higher Power or if you are a Christian with God the Father and Jesus Christ his Son. There are no limits how prayer can help us in our time of need. Our Lord is always present and knows before we ask for anything what we need. We pray because it is our way to connect with our Lord and Savior. It makes us feel close and connected to God that only a heart felt prayer can do.

The physical benefit for us is huge. We gain more calm, peace, and feel more relaxed. If we had shed a tear we receive additional benefits that does wonders for our health. Research shows emotional tears release oxytocin and endorphins. These chemicals make us feel good and may ease physical and emotional pain promoting a sense of well being.

I believe the greatest benefit of praying is how it transcends the laws of nature. When this happens it can only be described as a miracle. This happens at times with cancer patients and other patients suffering from life threatening diseases have a spontaneous recovery with no scientific or logical explanation. The patient is cured. It happens and I believe it’s the power of prayer, a deep faith, and a belief that they will recover from their illness.

Scripture has many powerful examples of miracles. We have the same God today that performed miracle after miracle. miracles are happening today and I believe you may know someone who is alive today as a result of a miracle. It’s true that many sick patients recover just fine from traditional therapies, but in some cases when all else has failed a true miracle may be needed.

Why do some individuals receive a miracle and recover from their illness, while others do not? We will never know why God chooses to heal some individuals and not others. Our Lord knows best as hurtful as that sounds. Our role is to keep hope alive and to never give up. We may not get our prayers answered, but God knows exactly what He is doing, even when we don’t understand.

We also have examples in the Bible where prayers went unanswered. Moses prayed to see the promised land after leading his people for 40 years in the wilderness. His prayer went unanswered, and he never saw the promised land. King David prayed and fasted for seven days that his son might live. His son died. Paul prayed that his affliction that he called “a thorn in his side” be removed. It never went away. Jesus prayed for God to take away His cup of suffering and death, but He was crucified anyway.

If God does not answer our prayer it’s nothing that you or I did wrong. God is all knowing and I believe He acts for the greater good. We as Christians have the Spirit of God within us. We should yield to God’s Spirit and believe that however God chooses to answer our prayer it is for our best interest. God loves us and if our prayers seem to go unanswered, there’s a reason, and we may not understand or ever learn the reason. Until some day we meet God face to face.

If you are a non believer I encourage you to connect with a believer. Having the Hope in an eternal life with God the creator of the universe will give you a greater purpose here on earth. Just knowing that there is much more beyond your mortal life here on earth will give you an entirely new perspective.

Before I sign off I want to leave you with some Hope. We have an all powerful God who loves us so much he gave us His Son Jesus who shed His blood for us on the cross. If we believe in Him and love Him there is nothing he won’t do for us. His dying on the cross says he’s willing to do anything for us. Whether your prayer goes unanswered or not just know that our suffering honors Jesus, and in a small way we too through our suffering can bring glory to God the father. Blessings and love, Godspeed; Carbie out
