FAITH

It’s funny how things work out sometimes. I was thinking of writing something along the lines of faith when I ran across a quote on faith that I hadn’t seen in a long time. It was written by Saint Augustine around 400 A. D. . He said ; “Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe.” Scripture puts it this way; “ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

Saint Augustine in his writing on faith makes a lot of sense. I like it because the Bible talks about believing and I believe it is a prerequisite to our faith. St. Augustine saw this over 1700 hundred years ago, and includes belief when he talks about faith. Our faith is empowered when we truly believe. Whatever we are hoping to achieve in health, finances, relationships, careers, etc., we have to believe that it is possible. Then we must have an active faith to bring about the the desired results. In chapter 2 of James it says that faith without deeds (action) is dead. We need to take some type of action to make our faith come alive.

For example, let’s say I’m dealing with a serious illness, and have prayed and believe in God’s healing grace. Will that be enough for me to be healed? What’s missing? There’s no action. I need to act on my faith. If I truly believe that I will be healed, I need to act as if that healing has already taken place. There can be no doubt at all that will only confuse your subconscious mind where ultimately the healing will take place as it works with universal intelligence.

Lew Miller a WWII veteran sustained devastating injuries to his brain, vision, hearing, and body including paralysis when his platoon engaged a a heavily armored German artillery unit along the Reine River in Germany. Lew relied heavily on his faith, and developed a visual-imagination strategy that helped him to heal one injury at a time. The main part of the strategy was a strong belief he would be healed. He acted on his faith by visualizing himself well and believing that his subconscious mind working with the power of universal intelligence (God Almighty) that he would be healed. His strategy worked for him, and can work for anyone who is hurting.

Let me sum all this up by simply saying ; “God says it, I believe it, that settles it.” Smith Wiggleworth, (England Dynamic Evangelist). God said he would heal those who believe in His word and have an active faith. Using your creative imagination you can visualize a positive outcome of what you desire, and then simply believe and have faith that it will come to pass. Faith and belief are two of our strongest gifts. As you use and develop these gifts, you will create with the help of your Higher Power the life you were meant to have. Until the next time, Godspeed.
