The BRAIN HEART Connection

A while back I wrote on the importance of our heart I called it “The Heart of the Matter,” and how important it is to listen to what it is telling us.. it guides us in so many positive ways. It is very responsive to our needs especially when aligned with the will of our Father, and our Creator, or for those who have a Higher Power.

If you are not a believer that is okay. My purpose is not to make you a believer, only the Holy Spirit can change your heart. I do ask you to keep an open mind. I will show you a few simple Bible verses that show that the heart truly is sacred, and that we should guard it with our whole mind and soul.

The first Bible verse I’ll share says, “Above all else guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). In other words you are the door keeper of what you allow into your heart. If you allow junk, bad thoughts, this is what you’ll you’ll experience in your life. If you want to change your life for the better it starts with what you allow into your heart. Your heart has the equivalent of a small brain and it relays messages to our brain via neurological pathways. When we send heart felt loving messages to our brain it puts us in a peaceful state of mind.

When our heart is torn between conflicting emotions such as anger, hate, or resentment, these emotions likewise are transmitted to our brain via the same pathways and our state of mind becomes much more agitated. There appears to be a strong connection between our body, mind, and emotions. This link is heavily influenced by what we think. Our thoughts have energy and substance even though we can’t see them.

This is why in the Bible it tells us “As he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). Even back thousands of years ago they knew that thoughts had power, and influenced our actions and behaviors. Today we have so much more evidence that can prove that indeed this is the case. The truth is simple, if you want too improve your life, improve your thoughts.

It’s also very important to stay positive, and to have a positive attitude about life. We are only here on earth for a very short time compared to eternity. Again the Bible tells us that “A happy heart is good medicine, and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22). If your heart is happy with loving feelings your mind will be impacted as well. A big plus is that these emotions help the healing process whether physical, spiritual, or mental. If your heart is suffering from heartache, sad feelings, or anything affecting your spirit in a negative way, your health will be affected in the same way.

My hope is that if you are not a believer that you do realize the power and influence your heart has over your brain. If you are a believer the Bible verses mentioned further substantiates this truth. Either way you have more influence over your life when you involve your heart in your decisions. So don’t forget to get your heart involved, it won’t let you down. In love and truth. Godspeed, Carbie out.
