Watch Your Throughts

Years ago I wrote some thoughts down in a poem that talked about our thinking and our thought processes. As I reread these thoughts I feel they are still very applicable for today and possibly even more so. Without any further delay I’ll get right into the poem that I called “Thoughts.”

“Thoughts”

I love thinking beautiful thoughts. My mind becomes alive, my body responds accordingly, but more importantly my spirit begins to soar. If I could keep my focus on these positive thoughts, thoughts of love, kindness, joy, happiness peace, contentment, and appreciation my health would improve, my body would feel better, but more importantly I would become a better and stronger person.

what is the secret? Why do I struggle with much difficulty keeping my thoughts positive? When God made me did he leave out some parts in my construction? I think not. The struggle has always been with myself. It’s my own pride that gets in the way. I’m too proud to admit I can’t handle something on my own, and the more I try and go it alone the more difficult life gets.

So what is the solution? I believe once we decide to turn our lives over to God or a Higher Power we are no longer doing it alone. Faith in a Spirit we can’t see is a stumbling block for many people. But faith along with surrender is a dynamic combination that assures victory to one who is willing to make this commitment. Once we decide to surrender we have a senior partner who will redirect our lives and thinking.

Will my negative thoughts ever disappear? I think not . But they will become less and less each time we engage and focus on our Senior Partner. Does evil exist? As long as evil exists I think negative thoughts will exist. In a sense our thoughts are on a spiritual plane. Good vs. evil. So then how do we become master of our thoughts?

We must focus on what is good, loving, caring, and joyful. Each time we catch ourselves thinking thoughts of negativity, thoughts of fear, hate, envy, jealousy, pride, or anger, we must replace that thought with a powerful vision. A vision that is full of love, powerful, beautiful, that absorbs your thoughts instantly. That bathes your mind in what is good and loving.

This is how we defeat our negative thoughts. We decide we want victory over them. Then we constantly monitor our thinking when a negative thought creeps in zap it and replace it with a loving thought. There is no magic bullet. But a sincere willingness to pursue a positive change in your life. We must first start with controlling our thinking. Nothing happens without a thought first. Control your thoughts and you become the master of your life.

As you can see most of what we do is controlled by our thinking and our thoughts. The better we can control our thoughts the better the impact will be on our lives. It takes discipline to pause, and to observe our thoughts from time to time. We don’t want to be at the mercy of our thoughts running wild on us. Therefore, we must learn to put them in check from time-to-time. To do this we must pause and think about our thoughts. What are you thinking right this minute?

Throughout the day we are constantly thinking about one thing or another. That is why I encourage you to take mini breaks throughout the day. Stop whatever you are doing, take three deep breaths and clear your mind of any thoughts. It might be difficult at first but like anything else you get better with time. This simple technique will help you clear your mind of any disturbing thoughts and help to bring you some peace for only a moment, but who wouldn’t want that even if for only a moment.

Our emotions, actions, and everything we do first started with a thought. The better you get at keeping your thoughts positive the more control you’ll have at leading the Life you were destined to live. Therefore, from now on watch your thoughts. Your life may depend on it. Until the next time. Carbie
