A month ago I wrote about the importance kid emotional control, and that you could quickly found yourself calmer by engaging your heart and mind in an entrainment technique that syncs your heart and brain in harmony. It’s a quick temporary fix and today I’ll write a bit more on this topic. I’ll start off by sharing a poem I wrote a while back and by coincidence I called it “Emotional Control.”
Emotional Control
As we live each day we are flooded with a variety of different emotions. It’s important to own your emotions whatever they might be. When you take responsibility for what you are feeling good or bad youI can make significant progress in changing any emotion that isn’t serving you well.
You actually have more control than you think on changing the way you feel. If you are feeling blue, sad, or down in the dumps, there’s a reason for that. From what you are thinking the thoughts you are thinking often determine what you are feeling or the way you are a acting.
If you have been depressed you need to change your thinking. Once you engage in more positive uplifting thoughts your emotions will drastically begin to shift in positive directions. The darkness from the sadness or depression you felt will gradually lift. You’ll feel lighter as the darkness becomes light and the joy returns sooner than later, just by influencing what your think.
It’s truly amazing how much control you have. You have much more influence on what you are feeling then most people think they have. When most people are smack in the middle of conflict and their emotions seem out of control, the last thing you are thinking about is taking a time and trying to get your emotions under control.
But you have much more power then you think you have when it comes to controlling your emotions. First, you need to take a step back And be totally aware of the feeling. If it’s anger you are feeling, isolate the emotion. Picture yourself or see yourself in the mirror in the heat of the moment. See your angry face, feel the anger.
By taking this time out and isolating the emotion it is no longer controlling you. You are beginning to reverse the course of this angry feeling you were feeling. By taking the time too observe the emotion of anger you have already lessoned its impact and you are well on your way to controlling this emotion. However, it’s best that we watch our thoughts in the first place, this more then anything will give us the most control of our emotions.
Your thoughts and thinking generally determine how and what you feel. Take control of your feelings by taking control of your thinking and your thoughts. It’s that simple, it sounds simple but with some it will take perseverance and patience to get the outcome you desire to have.
It’s doable if you stay persistent and do not give up anything worth having will be worth the effort you put into it. The key to change is to act on the new found knowledge you have acquired and continue to grow as a person. You never stop growing. Life is a process of continued growth. And getting better and controlling your emotions will be an ongoing and perhaps a life-long process. But have faith you will get better, much, much better.
The above poem talked about the power you have to control what you are feeling by stepping back and to get in touch with the emotion you are expressing. If you can isolate the emotion you will be able to control it more quickly. This is one of the keys to better emotional control. Your awareness of what you are feeling will help you to get your thoughts in check, therefore being able to control what you are feeling. If you want to change the way you feel change your thoughts. Happy thoughts create happy feelings, sad thoughts create sad emotions. Thought control can be enhanced through different forms of meditation. But this is a whole different topic that I’ll cover at a later date. Until the next time. Carbie
