Post COVID -19

If you find yourself with some extra time on your hands it’s important to find some positive outlets for the extra time that you might have. My hope is that if you need to work you are either working or will be able to get back to work soon. Many children are still going to school virtually, and that places more responsibility, and an additional time commitment on the part of a parent or parents.

That being said I would like to spend some time focusing on the rest of you. Some of you might be unemployed, recently lost you job, suffering from poor health, and many other good reasons. COVID -19 has definitely put a damper on our best laid plans. No one truly knows when we will put Covid -19 behind us. It could be the first part of next year or the end of next. The scientist have been wrong on many of their predictions only God truly knows and the best thing we can do is pray for a speedy and lasting recovery.

Many of us are more than ready to go back to work. I’m retired but I substitute teach on a pretty regular basis pre-COVID -19, and only once or twice during COVID. I know many of you are in similar situations and are chopping at the bit to get back to work. Hopefully that will be sooner than later.

The good news is that we know someday, and I’ m hoping that someday will be sooner than later, that things will eventually start getting back to the way they used to be. Maybe not 100 percent the way things were, we’ve been through to much together, and by now we must realize things will be different.

Exactly how different I guess that’s going to be up to you. Some of us will be able to adjust back quicker than others and that’s okay because by God’a design we are all unique and very special.

Remember I said some will be busier than others. These are the lucky folks who will make a smooth transition post COVID-19. The rest of us who weren’t as busy through no fault of our own, and might have a tougher time post COVID-19, unless you take action now. What I mean by that is to start preparing yourself for a smooth transition. You must take positive steps now to be mentally prepared to transition post COVID -19 .

We need to cut back on watching TV. Some of us at times, including myself begin to space out from watching too much TV. We need to stay mentally active. Try to read more, write more in your journal, work puzzles, play games, take up a a hobby, do whatever it takes to stay mentally fit.

You also need to get you body ready for physical activity. Go for walks ( wear your mask) if you can. If you can’t walk due to mobility issues do as much movement as possible around the house and yard. Activity is the key to good health. Don’t forget to include stretching and some strength training during your workouts.

Lastly and most importantly don’t forget the spiritual component in your COVID-19, and post COVID-19 preparation. If you can go to church that would be great. If you can try to find a quiet place to pray, meditate, and to read scripture.

If you continue to do all this on a daily basis you will be mentally, physically, and spiritually ready to make the smoothest transition post COVID-19. You will be physically fit, mentally alert, and spiritually ready to tackle all the challenges and obstacles that you’ll face Post COVID-19. Are you ready?
