The One-Minute Prisoner

Hello my name is Frank Carbajal and this is my first blog entry ever. I want to tell you briefly why I wrote “The One-Minute Prisoner.” After spending 20 years teaching inmates in the California Prison System know as the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), I had planned 10 years prior to write a book about life in prison. Of course the possibility of getting it published would have been difficult at best because the powers to be would have to approve it. I decided to wait till I retired to do a book, especially if it related to prison.

I retired in December of 2016, and became a substitute teacher for the county of Merced, Ca. I sub in juvenile hall, and the community schools of Merced County, and high schools that offer Regional Occupational Programs (ROP). My interests has always been in helping others succeed in life. I enjoy working with kids who have had it tough, but want to change for the better. Working in the prison system has taught me that our current prison system is in need of massive reform if we are to truly rehabilitate our prison inmates.

In part this is why I wrote the “The One-Minute Prisoner.” My hope is that prisoners will learn some strategies and techniques that will serve them well. I also realize that the meditation technique I alluded to in the book is a powerful technique that will serve us all well, and will help anyone gain focus, more mental clarity, and the ability to remain calmer when their world begins spinning out of control.

Like I said this is my first blog ever. I do enjoy writing, and I enjoy learning about many aspects of human and spiritual interactions with their higher power.
